2005 National Total Junior Invitational
Aaron competed throughout 2005 to earn a total of 1049 points in Open Junior. He placed first in his age group AND was the junior handler with the highest number of points overall (regardless of age/class). As a result of his performance in 2005, Aaron earned an invitation to the National Total Junior Invitational hosted by UKC at Premier in Kalamazoo, MI. Aaron's hard work paid off in the semi-final round as he was one of five juniors selected to move on to the final round. The finals is a grueling competition where the top five juniors and the top five seniors went head to head with three judges making the final decision as to placement. All of the kids had to work for a long time during the final round...but Aaron had to work the hardest. Rummy was only 13 months old and a terrier to boot. As such, he stood like a champ for the first 20-30mins, but after that, he was bored bored bored. As a result, he started moving and jumping and licking Aaron. Aaron had to recover.....and recover....and recover!! He was the only junior handler who had to continually reposition and "handle" his dog. Although we were afraid he may be penalized for Rummy's "terrier" puppy behavior, the judges rewarded Aaron's hard work and persistence. Aaron was chosen as the #1 2005 National Total Junior Invitational Winner.
Ryan and I are so proud of Aaron and his love and commitment to Rummy and the sport of dog showing. WAY TO GO SON!!!
